Microsoft Entra ID

Microsoft Entra ID, previously known as Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), is a cloud-based identity and access management service offered by Microsoft. It forms part of the Microsoft Entra product family, introduced in July 2023, designed to protect identities and secure network access across various environments. Microsoft Entra ID enables single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and conditional access policies to help organizations secure their applications and services. It maintains all the capabilities and features previously available under Azure AD, including user and group management, on-premises directory synchronization, and integration with a wide range of Microsoft and third-party SaaS applications. The transition to Microsoft Entra ID represents Microsoft's effort to unify and expand its identity and access management solutions, offering enhanced protection for any identity accessing any resource, without changing the core functionalities or the pricing structures of its predecessor, Azure AD.
