Blue Gold: World Water Wars 2009NR89 minutes

Narrated by Malcolm McDowell, this award-winning documentary from director Sam Bozzo posits that we're moving closer to a world in which water – a seemingly plentiful natural resource – could actually incite war. As water becomes an increasingly precious commodity, corrupt governments, corporations and even private investors are scrambling to control it … which leaves everyday citizens fighting for a substance they need to survive.

Are you prepared for a water crisis? It's winter in the northern half of the world hemisphere right now, and I continue to read in the news about floods, droughts, and snow storms causing all kinds of mayhem.

How prepared are you — seriously?

There have been floods in Southern Utah, a veritable desert! They normally get less than 1 inch per month and in the last month they have received more than 11 inches! Of course there will be flooding. I wonder how prepared they are for contaminated drinking water . . .

884 million people lack access to safe water supplies; approximately one in eight people.

In an article I read, a resident stated that they couldn't eat because they couldn't wash dishes. I'm sorry, but to that I say, DUH! A prepared person has a supply of paper plates, bowls, and glasses. Or a supply of Clorox wet wipes could be used to wipe food off dishes for the next meal. Just a little bit of thought about water supplies can go a long way to alleviating distress and suffering when water supplies are low, non-existent, or contaminated.

Do you have enough water stored for your family?
