Pseudonymization
Pseudonymization is a data protection technique that involves replacing or removing personally identifiable information (PII) from a dataset, while still allowing the data to be linked back to its original subject through the use of pseudonyms or identifiers. This process aims to enhance privacy and security by reducing the risk of unauthorized access or disclosure of sensitive information. Pseudonymization helps organizations comply with privacy regulations such as the GDPR by minimizing the exposure of personal data while still enabling legitimate data processing activities. However, it is important to note that pseudonymization does not completely anonymize data and may still be reversible, requiring additional safeguards to protect against re-identification.
