Kashaya Avastha Paka (Astringent stage).
Apana vayu and samana vayu open the ileocecal valve and food enters the cecum. Absorption of remaining minerals and liquids occurs. Feces are formed by the Earth component of astringent taste, stimulating peristalsis and resulting in elimination through the downward energy of apana vayu. Hunger returns as the Air component stimulates prana and jathara agni. Astringent taste is yielded into rasa dhatu.
