Node.js v13.x:
Using Ubuntu
- curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_13.x | sudo -E bash -
- sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
Using Debian, as root
- curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_13.x | bash -
- apt-get install -y nodejs

macOS
Simply download the macOS Installer directly from the nodejs.org web site: https://nodejs.org/en/#home-downloadhead
If you want to download the package with bash:
- curl “https://nodejs.org/dist/latest/node-${VERSION:-$(wget -qO- https://nodejs.org/dist/latest/ | sed -nE 's|.*>node-(.*)\.pkg</a>.*|\1|p')}.pkg” > “$HOME/Downloads/node-latest.pkg” && sudo installer -store -pkg “$HOME/Downloads/node-latest.pkg” -target “/”
