Two-Step Verification (2SV)

https://www.amazon.com/a/settings/approval?pageId=usflex Your phone number This is the number listed as your Mobile Phone Number in Account Settings. During 2SV challenges, this phone number will be included as an option to receive the One Time Password (OTP).

Devices that suppress OTP You may suppress future OTP challenges by selecting “Don't require OTP on this browser”. As long as the OTP suppression cookie is present, a Sign-In from that browser or application will only require a password. (Note: This option is enabled separately for each browser that you use.)

To make sure your account is protected, some actions like changing your account security settings, may still require you to enter an OTP.

Add a second 2SV authenticator If you would like to add another backup method, you can do so. If you don't have access to your preferred method, you can use a backup method in order to sign in

Authenticator AppGenerate OTP using an application. No network connectivity required. Rather than having a One Time Password (OTP) texted to you every time you Sign-In, you will use an Authenticator app on your phone to generate an OTP. You will enter the generated OTP at Sign-In the same way as with texted OTP.

Open your Authenticator App. Need an app? Add an account within the app, and scan the barcode below.

Can't scan the barcode? Enter OTP. After you've scanned the barcode, enter the OTP generated by the app:

Downloading an Authenticator App

Authenticator apps generate random codes that you can use to sign in. They do not have access to your Amazon password or account information. Amazon offers an authenticator app, but you can use any app you want. To download: Go to your phone's App store. Search for “Authenticator App”. Download an app.(E.g. AWS Virtual MFA, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator)

Can't scan the barcode? Open your Authenticator App and select “Manually add account” from the menu. In “Enter account name” type your full email address. In “Enter your key” type the following key (space not required): Set key type to “Time based”. Tap Add.

About Two-Step Verification Two-Step Verification adds an additional layer of security to your account. Instead of simply entering your password, Two-Step Verification requires you to enter a unique security code in addition to your password during sign-in.

After you enter your sign-in information, you may be prompted to enter a security code. You can receive this security code in a variety of ways depending on the option you select during sign-up, including text message, voice call, or authenticator app.

We use cookies to remember your preferences, so you will not be asked to enter a security code upon each sign-in. If you clear your cookies or use a different browser or device, you may be asked again for verification. For more information, see Signing in with Two-Step Verification.

If you need help from Customer Service after enabling Two-Step Verification, you'll need to provide a security code similar to when trying to sign in to your account.

For more information on enabling Two-Step Verification, see: Turning on Two-Step Verification.
